I'm Sending Out an SOS...

We've been robbed!

Sunday morning I worked in the nursery at our church during the 8:30 service. I made it home around 10:30. Pulled into the open garage passing Eric, standing out front with his golf clubs. I came into the house to greet the kids and got busy playing with them all. Max was over, as his sister smashed her finger early in the morning and was taken to the ER. (She is doing well.) Somewhere in the next hour, Max and I went into the garage to get a small screw driver to replace some batteries in our GeoTrax trains. (one of our favorite toys, btw!) The garage door was still open so I closed it and went on with our playtime. Several hours later, Max was home and the boys and I decided to ride our bikes to the park. We headed to the garage and suddenly realized one bike was missing...Eric's. :(
So sad. We know it was there Saturday night. So sometime in the hour that the garage was open Sunday morning, his bike was stolen. He filed a police report online and soon realized that this is a common crime in AZ. Today, he received a phone call from the police department in order to file an official report for burglary...since it was stolen from the inside of our garage. I listened as he answered a series of questions and repeated his story several times. All for nothing I'm sure. Do we really think they will find the bike? No.
It reminded me of that Seinfeld episode, The Robbery, where Jerry goes out of town and Elaine stays at his place. Kramer comes over to borrow a spatula and leaves the door open and Jerry's apartment is robbed. After filing the police report the officer says, "We'll take a look into it and we'll let you know if we find anything."
Jerry asks, "You ever find anything?"
The officer quickly replies, "No."

Meanwhile...I'm stalking craigslist Phoenix for a men's, silver and blue, Trek mountain bike.
