Hmmm.....What to do? Three days of Dad not working is a huge deal when it comes to September! Saturday morning Eric went golfing so the boys and I decided to pass the time at Paradise Bakery. We were like regulars, sipping on chocolate milks and eating muffins while surfing the Internet and listening to our iPods. :)
It was a particularly rainy morning for Phoenix so Dad's golf was cut short and we met back at home and headed to our cousins house to watch some college football! Go Tigers!
Saturday night, Tyler spent the night with us and we had a big day planned on Sunday. After church, we were all looking forward to a bike ride along the trail. We headed out in the caravan of bikes (plus one trailer for Caleb) on a quest for Tyler's which is about 3 miles by car. This might not seem like quite a feat, but for Eric and I coaxing along a 7 year old and a 6 year old (who is fresh on bike riding, mind you) in 100 degree heat, it was amazing! It was probably closer to 5 miles for us as we rode along trails and TRIED to avoid major roads, but the boys made it! They headed straight for the pool! That evening Eric and Dave took the older boys golfing, so Caleb, Noah, and I headed home (Noah rode in the trailer on the way home) and we stopped at the park for some play. They are so fun to watch at the playground because Noah is changing so much being in school. He is a pro at the monkey bars and climbs effortlessly up and down any obstacle at the park. Caleb does all that he can to keep up. He would spend hours on the swing...if I would be willing to push for that long!
Monday morning we decided to try our kids out with hiking. We headed to Piestewa Peak, aka Squaw Peak, in the Phoenix Mountains Park and headed to the highest elevation along a 1.4 mile trail. The boys were amazing. Noah was a trooper doing all he could to get to the top and Caleb walked by himself every chance we would let him. (It was much faster to carry him up the mountain!) We made it about a mile and Noah was done! It was a fairly tough climb for those with little legs and we were proud of Noah for making it so far on his first try (in 90+ weather). We headed home for some BBQ and swimming then finished up the afternoon with a movie and popcorn. Oh, and Dad snuck in another round of golf. ;)
Good times, fun times.
Here we are at the start of our journey.
Stopping to enjoy the view.
Heading back down to the car with a view of downtown.
