Oh, Baseball

As mentioned previously, Eric and I ventured to Chase Field Sunday afternoon with the boys to experience major league baseball Diamondback style. It was a mere 109 degrees Sunday afternoon as we headed down to the game. Being practical "out of towners" we had no idea where to park or how to maneuver around down town on a game day. We found a parking garage with decent prices, wandered to find our way out, and followed the crowd....other couple....toward the stadium. As we entered through the double glass doors...wait? Double glass doors at a baseball game? With the cheap tickets? And then it hit me. Air conditioning! The roof was closed and the air was on. That's my kind of afternoon baseball. The kids received free caps and were sporting them as if they were gold. We climbed our way to the top, found our seats, and then it hit me. I don't really like baseball. I like the Cardinals, I like brats and beer, I enjoy a good dance party at Paddy O's. BUT...I don't like baseball.

First of all, the game was sadly empty. Second, there was not one player on the field that I really knew anything about. And third, baseball is boring. That's right. I said it. I turned for five seconds to capture a picture of my son at his first D'backs game and I missed the only action that occurred in the 20 minutes we were there seated. After two quick potty breaks for Caleb we were just about done. We had heard rumors of a play land in the stadium and thought to go check it out. We made it to the doors where we entered. And we made our exit. :) The boy are doing their happy dance!
Once we made it back to the car and were exiting down town, I turned to Eric and said, "That confirms it. I don't really like baseball." Growing up in St. Louis it is easy to get caught up in Cardinal fever. I do love the Cards. I still check their scores daily. I love the atmosphere of the Stadium and the excitement surrounding it. As far as simply watching baseball, I think there are about 1005 other things that I can think of, off the top of my head, that I would rather spend my afternoon doing. And that includes washing my hair.
