Our newest little man has entered the world. And he is perfect. June 30, 11:48 p.m., 9lbs 1.9oz, 21.5 in long. As I said, PERFECT!
Here is his story...
Thursday, June 30th, the boys and I were getting antsy to get out of the house. We headed to the mall to visit the pet store and play on the playground for a while. Afterwards we headed over to the library for a magic show. On our way home, Noah asked me for the 47th time that day, "When are we going to the hospital?" We got home around 4 o'clock and I started with the mild contractions. When I called the doctor (knowing she was on call that night) she told me to come on in to the hospital and get checked out. So we loaded up the boys and headed in. Noah was SO EXCITED!!!! Eric and I were sort of out of it. Definitely not expecting a baby tonight. We walked the birthing suites for a while, as I wasn't really "in labor," although I was hopeful that they wouldn't send me home being almost 5 cm dilated. The boys played in the lobby while Eric and I did laps, making phone calls and organizing care for the boys. We also managed to get in one last picture of our sweet little family of four.
I was admitted at about 8:00 and Eric took off to take the boys home and get them into bed. Luckily, we have fabulous neighbors who stayed with the boys all night. Meanwhile, I lied in bed at the hospital, by myself. It was so eerie. I was all alone for almost an hour with just my thoughts. Let me just say, as fabulous as that was, I much prefer the chaos and visitors and family around during my first two deliveries. Did I mention that the birthing suites, while on the campus of the main hospital, were totally and completely separate....very quiet, very calm, very peaceful. Not what I am used to.
Eric was back a little after 9, and we simply relaxed and watched some tv with the lights out until it was time to push. And it happened fast. One minute the nurse says your almost 8 cm, the next minute, I knew I was at 10. She hadn't even walked out of the room yet, before I was calling her back. It was all just too fast for me. I had just had a normal "hang out" day with my boys, and here it is almost midnight and I'm about to have a baby. I was not mentally prepared for this. I even forgot to think about the excitement of boy or girl while I was pushing (which took less than 7 minutes). But alas, totally unprepared, totally peaceful, a baby boy was born. It was all too surreal for me.
Noah and Caleb spent the day at the birthing suites with us on Friday. Every staff member was head over heels for the boys as they both talked every ones ears off! However, it was Eric, Jonah, and I who accidentally set off the nursery alarm with our nurse as she opened the door to the stairs as we walked past, headed for the kitchen. Oops! She was on a mission to get us some mittens after seeing the scratches on his face after the first night!
Saturday morning we headed home anxious to start our life as a family of five. Let me tell you, these three boys and their daddy are filling my heart with love and joy everyday and every sleepless night!
And yes, Jonah has his very own body guard, watching over him every second.
LOVE him already. So wish we were there when you were born sweet Jonah, but we will make up for it when we visit!
