Saturday night Noah and Caleb had their first sleepover together at a friend's house. It was the first time Caleb has spent the night at a non family member's house. And although he was only next door, I couldn't help but be nervous for him. Eric and I went through a range of questions/concerns after dropping him off. Think he'll wet the bed? Will he cry during the night? What if he wakes up and freaks out because he has no idea where he is? Do we really have a house with no kids? Should we go out and have a drink? :)
In true Selter fashion, Eric and I were in bed and asleep by 9:30, or thereabout. Needless to say, there were no problems....only when it was time to come home the next day.
As expected on Sunday, the boys were disastrous. Tired and crabby at its best! After church, we headed to the library for a performance by the Phoenix symphony, then ate in Oldtown Scottsdale at a restaurant that seemed to be owned by the Phoenix mafia. It was great! There was a 20 minute time frame while Caleb hid under the table screaming at the owner who felt he could solve all problems by talking to Caleb. And later, what felt like 20 minutes, while Noah was MIA in the kitchen with the owner picking out what he would like for desert. A little scary, but a fun experience all the same.
Oh, and as we were leaving a former Yankee ball player came in, and was an instant celebrity with the boys. (Not Noah and Caleb, but the mafia boys) I suddenly felt like I was in that Seinfeld episode when Elaine is out with Keith Hernandez. "He was the one who got the hit!" Only this was the guy that "hit into the double play." At least this guy still got his championship ring.
