Last night, before bed, the kids set out their shoes (cowboy boots) by the front door hoping that St. Nick would come and place a treat inside them. Indeed he came and both boys received a book, an ornament, and some candy. St. Nick also left them a gingerbread kit to put together. Mr. Noah woke bright and early running into our bedroom "whispering" very loudly, "MOM!, St. Nicholas Day, it's St. Nicholas Day!"
I love sharing holiday traditions like this with my kids. Many of the holiday memories from my childhood are some of the best! Like my sister and I, my kids now enjoy hiding baby Jesus until Christmas morning, making red and green paper chains to decorate the house, and opening their advent calendars each morning. Next up....watching more Christmas specials on TV and decorating cookies.
